Dr. Thomas Hull
Born and raised here in Preston, Idaho, I worked on the family farm until graduating from Preston High School. I enjoyed the summer’s participating in 4-H, Boy Scouts, and playing softball with the Whitney Ward Young Men team. I did my undergraduate study at BYU and then attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE where I completed a DDS degree. The next nine years were spent in the US Army and then returned to Preston where I have since been practicing dentistry and getting to know the people in this community. Gardening has been and still is my favorite pastime.
Dr. Justin Carter
After graduating from Preston High School, I spent my time working with my dad on our family farm. I had always thought about being a dentist, but it was not until a few years after high school that I decided to make that dream a reality. I attended undergraduate classes at ISU and then moved my family to Lincoln, NE, where I completed my DDS degree at the University of Nebraska. I am glad to live and work back in Preston where my wife and I have raised five children. Aside from dentistry I enjoy spending time on my ranch with my family, camping, boating, and gardening. I am fascinated to learn new dental techniques keeping my skills current. My favorite part of dentistry is connecting with patients and helping them to achieve their dental goals.
Dr. Derek Stokes
I was born in Provo, Utah and I spent my early childhood in Chicago Illinois while my father was in dental school. After that, my family moved to Preston, Idaho where my father started a dental practice in 1970. I started kindergarten in the basement of a house before moving to a regular school building. My formal education was in Preston until graduation. I was active in athletics and the scouting program. I served a two-year religious mission in southern Mexico and after that attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and graduated with a B.A. in Spanish with an emphasis in interpretation and translation, and a minor in Linguistics and computers. I attended Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska for dental school; and have been practicing dentistry since 1995. The best thing I like about dentistry is helping people out of pain and get healthy again so they can eat, smile and live healthy lives. I am married with 3 children. A boring fact about me: I don’t like a lot of mayo on my sandwich. I like a diverse and wide range of music...except rap. I like movies, music, theater, collegiate and high school sports.
Stephanie Smith
Office Manager
I was raised in Preston Idaho, home of the Famous Preston Night Rodeo, which I still look forward to every year.
After graduating from BYU, I married my best friend and high school sweetheart, and we returned to Preston where I began my career in the dental industry. We love raising our family (2 kids and one dog) in this close-knit community.
When I am not in the office, I can be found enjoying the great outdoors with my family and friends. I enjoy live music of any kind and I have never met a food truck I didn’t like.
Robin Kingsford

Although born & raised in Preston I have recently; moved back to Preston to be closer to family. I am new to Canyon Creek Dental and the dental industry, but it exciting to learn more about it. I am looking forward to getting to know the patients.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband, children, & grandchildren in the outdoors camping & 4 wheeling.
Mignon Fellows - RDH
I have been a dental hygienist at Canyon Creek Dental since 2014. I grew up in Rexburg, Idaho and attended hygiene school at Idaho State University. My husband Scott and I have four children. As a family we enjoy camping, hiking, snow skiing, and going to our cabin in Island Park. In my spare time I love to read, scrapbook, and take long naps. My favorite food is taco salad. I love being a dental hygienist and enjoy all the friendships I have make at the office over the years.
Katie Welsh - RDH
I grew up in Richmond, Utah and have been working in dentistry my entire life. My mom worked in a dental office when I was young and often took me there to help. After graduating from Weber State University in 2005, I started my career in Preston and have been working here since then. I love working with fun dental team members who focus on giving quality care.
I currently live in Smithfield with my husband and our two daughters. Outside of work I enjoy fly fishing, traveling, gardening, and baking. My greatest joy has been watching my children grow and learn while they develop hobbies of their own.
Lindy Gale - RDH
I have always had a passion for dental care. I worked as a dental assistant through high school and continued that career path as I became a dental hygienist. I attended Weber State University and graduated in 2009.
I have always loved connecting with patients and assisting them in taking control of their own health and wellness. One of my favorite parts about dentistry is the relationships I build with patients and my coworkers. It is what makes me excited to come to work every day.
I love spending time with my husband and three kids. We enjoy the outdoors, horses, rodeo, hunting, and the kids participate in many extracurricular activities. I have a passion for helping others and empowering them to take control of their health and wellness. I assist them with this by providing hope and healing through natural solutions. I use Doterra essential oils as the vehicle to do this.
I love what I do and am proud to be part of an amazing team at Canyon Creek Dental.
Julie Carter - Assistant
I have been a dental assistant for over 8 years. Getting to know people is the best part of my job. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. I have four grown children and six adorable grandchildren. When I am not in the office, you can find me outdoors helping my husband on the ranch or taking pictures of beautiful things.
Kelli Foster - Assistant
I was born and raised in Preston, ID. I graduated from Preston High School in 2012. I then went to Bridgerland Applied Technology College and attended the Dental Assisting Program. I have worked for Dr. Carter ever since I graduated from Bridgerland. I have two dogs that I consider my children. Their names are Macie and Marlee; they are the cutest things ever. I enjoy camping, shopping, and spending time with my family. My favorite part of working at Canyon Creek Dental is getting to meet new people every day!
Dakota Wilson - Assistant
I am from Downey Idaho and later my family moved to Preston to go to school. I graduated high school in 2010 and went to APEX Dental Assisting in Logan UT. I am currently enrolled at Weber State University and will be going into the Dental Hygiene program. I have two amazing little boys, Layne and Kobe. My boys are big into sports so that takes up most of our time! We love being outside and being active no matter what it is!
I have worked at Canyon Creek Dental since my oldest went to pre-school many years ago. My favorite part of working here is the fun, friendly atmosphere. They are my second family!
Colleen Carter - Assistant
My favorite part of helping at the dental office is getting to know the patients and helping them find health and joy with their smile. I am married to the man of my dreams and I am a lucky mother to five wonderful humans (and a few fur babies). Spending time eating and laughing with my family is the best way to spend a day. Some of my favorite things to do are taking long hot showers, getting a pedicure, baking, scrapbooking, and piecing quilts.
Kristen Schvaneveldt - Assistant
I have been a dental assistant for the past 15 years. I was raised in Riverdale (just north of Preston) and I love the area so much that me and my husband now live there with our four kids. When I am not at work you can find me out on my horses or RzR riding in the mountains.
